Single Drives, Autoloaders and tape libraries
Tape storage media is the most reliable, cost-effective and secure media today. To use this media, you need a tape drive. A single tape drive is a simple recorder with a SAS interface and takes a single tape media. For automation, there are tape libraries and autoloaders that can hold multiple tapes in magazines. Libraries can have multiple drives that write or read in parallel, and robotic that move cartridges in and out of slots. Tri-optics bar code labels can be used to mark the tapes. The most popular interface for tape drives is SAS (and FC in Libraries), but there are also Thunderbolt solutions that allow easy connection to workstations with TB interfaces.
