How to do qnap to qnap backup
With QNAP's HBS (Hybrid Backup Sync) you can easily backup from one QNAP to another QNAP. You need a network path between the 2 QNAPs and the login credentials for the target QNAP.
qnap what is a storage pool
The storage pool is the aggregate of many RAIDs in the QNAP. At the bottom are the disks (HDDs or SSDs), multiple disks join together to create a RAID group, and finally multiple RAID groups are combined to create a storage pool. Volumes and LUNS are created on top of the storage pool.
qnap where are snapshots stored
Snapshots are pure Data pointers, so they are stored on the same volume for which you create SNAPSHOTS. You have the option of replicating the snapshots to another QNAP also.
qnap how to replace failed drive
Replacing a defective hard drive is as simple as removing the defective hard drive and replacing it with a new hard drive of the same (or larger) size. The hard drive should preferably be the same brand and quality ( WD Red should be replaced with WD Red and Seagate Exos with Seagate Exos). The system will recognize the new drive and start rebuilding the RAID. If you use a larger drive, it will be downsized to the smaller capacity of other drives in your RAID
what are qnap snapshots
QNAP snapshots are like Windows snapshots. They allow you to quickly restore your data to a previous state. Technically, snapshots work with data pointers so that the same data is not saved twice and storage space is used efficiently. For example, on January 1, you had 100 MB of data. On January 2, you deleted 10 MB and added 30 MB of new data, so your storage space is 120 MB. With snapshots, your total storage footprint is only 130 MB. With those 130 MB, you can restore your 100 MB from January 1 and the 120 MB from January 2 ( Since there is 90MB of common data between 2 data sets, add 10MB to this and you get Jan1 data, add 30MB to this and you get Jan2 data) . Snapshots are great for protecting against accidental deletion or modification of data and also provide protection against ransomware
what are qnap devices
QNAP makes network attached storage. A storage that connects to your network (as opposed to a USB drive that connects to your USB port). The advantage of connecting it to the network is that it can be easily shared, permissions can be defined as to who can access what, and it can do many tasks for you since it is always on (it can work as a firewall, VPN server, proxy server, torrent downloader). The hardware is robust and offers multiple fail-safes like RAID, snapshots, dual network ports, etc.

Do you have a qnap service center dubai
QNAP has no legal personality in the UAE (as of 2022). We at PNP are their authorized service partner and can help you with QNAP after sales and techincal services.
qnap where is os stored
OS is stored in 2 places. Partly on the DOM ( Disk on Module) and partly on the internal drives. You cannot boot your entire NAS OS from DOM alone. Also, the OS on DOM and OS on the hard drives must have the same version. If you swap the disks between 2 QNAPs and the OS version of DOM and the disk do not match, QNAP will warn you and give you the option to upgrade the firmware
Does qnap have a middle east office
No, at the time of writing this response (2022), QNAP does not have an office in the Middle East. At PNP, we can help you with any service requests you may have regarding QNAP
qnap which raid to use
If you have only 2 hard disks, it is better to use RAID1. If you have 3-8 hard disks, you can use RAID5. If you have 8-12 hard disks, it is better to use RAID6. The more parity disks you have, the more protection against disk failures you get.
How to do qnap to synology backup
If you enable Rsync Server on Synology, you can use QNAP HBS to back up to Synology. It is also possible to synchronise much faster with Bittorrent (Resillio) which is a paid solution.
can qnap read ntfs
If you connect an external USB drive that is formatted in NTFS, QNAP will recognize it. If it is an internal drive, QNAP will prompt you to format the drive before it can be used in QNAP, regardless of the file system. QNAP can now also read exFAT without incurring a license fee
qnap what is container station
Container Station is a GUI solution that allows you to set up your containers quickly and easily. It supports all 3 popular containers - Docker, LXD and Kata . If you want to quickly run a Linux application on your QNAP, you can do so with Container Station. Some examples are the ability to run Transmission, JelyBean, TaleScale, etc. on the QNAP.
qnap where is backup station
Backup Station has been replaced by HBS - Hybrid Backup Sync. HBS is a very capable software and offer many more options compared to BS.
qnap where are apps installed
Apps are installed on one of the system volumes. You have the option to select a volume when installing each APP. It is quite possible to install different apps on different volumes.
qnap what is bitmap
A bitmap helps to quickly synchronize your RAID. Without a bitmap, all data from RAID is synchronized when a disk is disconnected from the RAID group. With the bitmap enabled, only the data that changed while the disk was disconnected is synchronized. This faster synchronization applies only to all existing disks that have data on them. During a RAID rebuild with new disks it does not help

Tiered storage configuration for a QuTS hero NAS
Basic requirements for setup are similar to QTS. We recommend you to follow these steps to acquire optimal storage efficiency and performance for QuTS hero.
Step 1: System Drive & Default Shared Folders
The first Storage Pool you create is where the system drive, default shared folders, and apps are stored. In this step, it is recommended to create an SSD RAID with at least two SSDs to attain optimal system performance and efficient app metadata management. (With an all-HDD configuration, the first Storage Pool is also where the system drive and default shared folders are stored.)
Step 2: Read Cache & ZIL
Use more SSDs for read cache or ZIL. You can also install to add M.2 SSDs for expanding cache space.
Step 3: Data Storage
Allocate HDDs/SSDs to create a RAID for storing files and application data. If needed, you can configure an all-flash configuration for optimal performance.
Inline data deduplication, compression, and compaction drives big data storage efficiency
QuTS hero supports advanced block-based data reduction technologies (including inline data deduplication, compression, and compaction) to reduce file sizes, conserve storage capacity, and optimize performance. For example, if 20 virtual machines on a NAS are replicated using the same template, then storage space requirements for all 20 virtual machines can be reduced by up to 95%. Whether acting as primary or backup storage, the TS-h686 optimizes storage utilization to provide a reliable storage cornerstone in the Big Data era.
Real-time SnapSync ensures minimal RPO with real-time disaster recovery
Real-time SnapSync ensures that both the primary and secondary NAS maintain identical data. When data is written to the source, it is immediately written to the destination. If the primary NAS goes offline, IT staff can simply adjust the privilege settings of the secondary NAS to ensure continuous operations. SnapSync provides the strongest support for nonstop business operations and helps users to reduce the risk of data loss.
Note: SnapSync will be available from Q4 2020.
The TS-h686 also supports snapshots and remote backup that help organizations accomplish routine backup tasks cost-effectively and efficiently.
Snapshots multiply backup protection
Attain peace of mind with near-limitless, instant snapshots. Copy-on-write technology makes snapshot creation almost instantaneous without affecting ongoing data writing. Snapshot Replica replicates snapshot files to the backup NAS, simplifying data protection with version control.
HBS simplifies 3-2-1 backup plans
HBS centralizes backup, restoration, and synchronization for easily transferring data in the TS-h686 to another QNAP NAS, remote server, or cloud storage space. HBS supports QuDedup technology that eliminates redundant data at the source and makes multi-version backup faster.
